The module is designed to explore the intricate interplay between individuals, groups and organizations, drawing on a wealth of theoretical and empirical insights from management, psychology, sociology and economics. It examines the multifaceted dynamics of organizational behavior, exploring how individuals and groups come together and are shaped by their organizational contexts. The module analyzes organizations as complex social systems, unveiling the forces that drive organizational change and adaptation. It investigates the balance between stability and innovation and the critical role of leadership in navigating turbulent environments, including theories of leadership, communication, and emotional intelligence for performance management. In addition, the module traces key evolutions in management thinking, from Scientific Management to the Human Relations Movement, to understand how past theories inform current management practices. How to create value through the effective organization and management of groups and teams is discussed. Key principles of human resource management (recruitment, training, performance), marketing (information management, communication, brand management) and finance (budgeting, risk management, cash flow) are introduced. Finally, the module analyzes more subtle but crucial aspects such as the role of aesthetics and emotions in the workplace, contemporary power dynamics, and forms of organizational resistance.
In an environment dominated by uncertainty, change and global interconnectedness, leading is not enough: you need to understand, adapt and inspire. This module will take you to the heart of contemporary leadership, exploring evolutionary models, communication strategies, diversity management, and ethical vision. Through hands-on experiences, real-world cases, and discussion with top leaders, you'll develop the skills to lucidly address today's complex challenges -- and anticipate those of tomorrow.
